Posada Balvanera
Queretaro/ Mexico/ 2023
An architectural manifesto where materiality and light emerge as the true protagonists of space. This project transcends mere function to become an ode to timelessness—an exercise in synthesis where every element has been distilled to its purest essence.
Inspired by the restrained monumentality of Mexico’s historic haciendas and the contemplative aesthetics of wabi-sabi, the design articulates a dialogue between permanence and transformation, between the primitive and the sophisticated. The exposed stone’s raw nobility, the unembellished warmth of wood, and a restrained chromatic palette converge in an architectural discourse that privileges contemplation and introspection.
The volumes, bold and essential, establish an almost mystical relationship with light, which glides across surfaces with mathematical precision, revealing the texture of time. Spatiality unfolds with a deliberate cadence, suggesting a journey where architecture does not impose itself but whispers its presence with silent dignity.
The furniture, conceived as a natural extension of the space, is a celebration of matter in its most truthful state. Each piece, unique and intentional, enriches the atmosphere with an imprint of exclusivity and character. Lighting, far from being a mere technical resource, becomes a poetic gesture that sculpts perception, establishing an ambiance of solemnity and reverence.
This project does not seek to captivate with the ephemeral but to establish a legacy of sobriety and transcendence. Here, architecture is not decorated—it is experienced.
